Dnata is a global aviation services company, providing ground handling, cargo, and inflight services for major airlines at airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, and Amsterdam. At Amsterdam Airport, one of the world’s largest cargo-only terminals, they identified a need to improve how cargo was tracked across multiple systems and partners. Despite their high volume of aircraft turnarounds and international scale, tracking cargo movements in real-time remained a challenge.
They turned to Mobilise to help design a cloud-based solution that would enhance visibility, streamline tracking, and improve communication between stakeholders.
Mobilise implemented a robust, cloud-native cargo tracking solution for Dnata, leveraging the scalability and flexibility of Amazon Web Services (AWS). The solution was carefully designed to address the complexity of tracking goods across multiple partners and locations, while ensuring resilience, real-time visibility, and future scalability.

The solution was built on core AWS services including Amazon MSK (Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka) for real-time event streaming, Amazon EC2 for application compute, and Amazon VPC for secure network isolation. Infrastructure as Code was implemented using AWS CloudFormation, ensuring consistent, repeatable deployments across environments.
The new AWS-based cargo tracking platform has significantly improved real-time visibility of cargo movements across Dnata’s partner network. By streamlining data exchange and automating key tracking processes, the solution has enhanced operational efficiency, reduced delays, and ensured a more reliable, scalable system. With Mobilise providing 24/7 managed support since go-live, system availability has been maintained above 99.9%, and Dnata is now well positioned to adapt to future growth and evolving logistics demands.
